About me
Joe is an indigenous Coloradan. He was the first in his family to go to college. He graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1993. In 2003, he graduated from the University of Denver College of Law.
In November 2012, Joe was elected to the Colorado State House of Representatives where he championed important pieces of legislation, such as repealing Colorado’s version of “Show Me Your Papers” law, eliminating debtor’s prisons in Colorado, passing the Hate Crime Statistics Act, holding law enforcement accountable to communities, and protecting Colorado residents from federal government overreach.
Most importantly, Joe is married to Jessica Salazar and he has two wonderful daughters, Alex and Lili.
