About me
Karen Thompson is the Legal Director of Pregnancy Justice where she leads a team of attorneys in defending women and all those with the capacity to become pregnant from being criminalized because of their pregnancies or pregnancy outcomes. Karen oversees the strategic litigation and legal advocacy efforts of the organization, working with partners and allies to advance the rights and dignity of pregnant people. Prior to joining Pregnancy Justice in January 2024, Karen was a Senior Staff Attorney at the ACLU of New Jersey, where she litigated high-impact civil rights and civil liberties cases, including criminal justice reform. She brings a near decade of experience litigating wrongful conviction cases as a senior staff attorney at the Innocence Project.
